DIY Costumes by Shantel Zhou
You may ask what is a DIY Costume? Well, read on. DIY stands for Do It Yourself. A DIY costume might be silly, scary, funny, embarrassing, happy, weird, sad, mad, or glad type of costumes. Here are some examples of DIY costumes:
A popular costume is a pirate. You can make a pirate costume by having one eye covered with an eye patch. It has a cool hat and lots of treasures like necklaces and bracelets. A pirate costume can be right for everybody.
A cute DIY costume is to put a little baby in a pumpkin. It is so cute. The baby is probably 1 or 2 years old, and the pumpkin lid is open in order to make a baby sit in it.
A silly DIY costume is wearing similar clothes to the main character of your favorite movie or game. For example, my favorite movie is “Despicable Me,” so I could dress up like a Minion. I would need a yellow hat, blue overalls that go all the way to your feet, black gloves, black shoes, a yellow shirt, and of course goggles! Another silly DIY costume you might make is putting a noodle on your upper lip and a pot on top of your head to look like the master, Shifu, in “Kung Fu Panda.”
A creative DIY costume is a man holding a boy’s head in a glass jar. It looks scary if you don’t know how to make it. Technically it was a boy’s body with a costume that was the same as a man wearing but the boy is sticking it’s head out in an opened jar.
Last but not least, one of the scariest costumes is a soul walker because there is just a little tiny head on the side. It is really creepy. It is not bloody but it is made out of old clothes that are grey and have super long legs (like a spider). But it will creep you out!

Halloween Superstitions by Ella Caterini
Halloween is just around the corner, which some people see as good and some see as bad. For example, you might say, “Yay! It’s CANDY TIME!” That is what most people (especially kids) will say. But there are some who will start feeling chills in the crisp October air. Superstitious people start getting scared by things that might seem normal to you. Superstition is all about the world of luck. If you don’t know what superstition is, you may not know that it is not only about bad luck, it is also about good luck. One of the most common good superstitions is that if you find a four leaf clover you will have good luck.
The real common sense to superstition is... nothing. There has been no scientific proof that superstition is a real thing - at least not yet. It is purely something that you either believe in, or you don’t.
I’m sure you have all heard some of the classic superstitions, like black cats are bad luck, Friday the Thirteenth is an unlucky day, and step on a crack and you’ll break your mother's back. But, i’m going to share some odd superstitions that you might not have heard. These are 10 cool superstitions that you’ve probably never heard.
#1. An itchy palm means money will come your way.
#2. It is bad luck to chase someone with a broom.
#3. Clothes worn inside out will bring you good luck.
#4. To break a mirror will bring seven years of bad luck.
#5. It’s bad luck to sleep on a table.
#6. To drop a fork means a woman will visit.
#7. To drop a knife means a man will visit.
#8. To drop a spoon means a child will visit.
#9. Keeping a lock of hair from a baby’s first haircut brings good luck.
#10. A cricket in the house brings good luck.
